Hearing Loss & KNOWLEDGE!

You’re asking, "what does hearing loss have to do with knowledge?" The answer is everything! I pulled my Webster’s II Dictionary from the shelf, dusted it off, and looked up the definition of KNOWLEDGE:

Knowl·edge (n.) 1. The state or fact of knowing. 2. Familiarity, awareness, or comprehension acquired by experience or study. 3. The sum or range of what has been perceived, discovered, or learned.

This is the reason behind the HLAA, SW CT Chapter! We are actively involved in informing the public on issues concerning hearing loss through our monthly chapter meetings and our Educational Workshops that are designed for people of all ages. If you are interested in having an Educational Workshop for your group, please contact our chapter, and we will work with you to accommodate your needs.

At our monthly meetings we offer support and provide information on the latest technology and assistive listening devices which work in tandem with our hearing aids to keep us connected to the hearing world. Also, each month all our members receive the HLAA SW CT Chapter award-winning newsletter, which keeps them abreast of the latest developments in the hearing loss field.

We appreciate the many professionals who present a wide variety of programs relating to the various causes of hearing loss, including hearing aids, cochlear & BAHA implants, assistive listening devices, and numerous alerting devices, which are all available to make our daily lives easier.

This newly-gained knowledge helps us to become better informed about our own hearing problems and also enables us to ask knowledgeable questions during appointments with the audiologist.

The more knowledge you obtain about hearing loss and what is available to enhance your hearing equipment, the more you can begin to enjoy and function better in the ‘Hearing World’.

WOW! All this from one little word - Knowledge!
